Medieval Times

For her birthday dinner, Morgan picked Medieval Times. (go figure) The "wench" told her that the vegetable soup was dragon eyeballs, snails & scales. (It's hard enough to get kids to eat vegetables without telling them that it's body parts!) It took 20 minutes to convince her to try it, now she thinks it's just funny. Her favorite part was when the Knight kissed a flower & threw it to her. That's all we need, boys! And with that, we ended our birthday celebration! Now it is back to the real world, but if anyone wants to come visit, the beach is 2 hours away, and it is spectacular! Come one, come all!

The Beach

Morgan took to the beach like a fish to water! Ha! I thought the salt water would bother my little "princess & the pea" but she didn't care. She just wanted to ride the waves. Stephen had a blast too. I think his favorite part must have been when we buried him in the sand (twice!) What a great dad!

Myrtle Beach

Morgan had a very eventful 4th Birthday. She was so cute when she woke up that morning, she asked us to hold her up to the bathroom mirror to see if she had grown from 3 to 4. Of course, she had! We went to Ripley's Aquarium that morning at Myrtle Beach. She got to pet these huge crab things and tried to pet the stingrays. Lots of fun!

Time with Emma Jean

Right before we left for South Carolina, Morgan & I spent a week with our friends in Missouri. It seemed like "summer camp" for her. We picked Strawberries, went to an UnBirthday party, Identified different butterflies, and topped it off with Chuck E. Cheese. We had a blast.

Edventure in Columbia, SC

This past weekend we went to a Children's Museum for Morgan, although Stephen & I didn't think it was the best, she loved it, so I guess that's all that matters. There was an 80 ft. boy named Eddy that you could climb on & in the back you could climb on his insides. Kids seemed to really like playing in it.

Birthday Party

Morgan's birthday is this Sat. (We are taking her to Myrtle Beach) but before we left Lincoln, I took her & a couple of friends to Chuck E. Cheese. All was well, until you give 3 girls sunglasses, cupcakes & rootbeer. Then they get nuts! They had a wonderful time, I know Morgan is going to miss them so much.

South Carolina

Well, we made it to South Carolina! Still not in our house, but should be in 2 weeks. We are living in a one bedroom apt. but I think Morgan sleeping on the floor in the closet builds character. The drive was 20 hours so we took two days, Sarah, the cat, had a lot to say about that! She wimpered the whole way, but is back to her old self now. Morgan & I are having fun exploring Columbia while we bide our time here. Today we went to a beautiful outside mall, the movies & an ice cream shop. Most days she spends in the pool. She is going to miss the apt. pool. Just want to let you guys know we are still kicking. (And speaking of kicking, this little BOY in me is kicking up a storm!)

Baptism

We got Morgan baptised this Easter Weekend. Morgan had a great day, and it was neat to see her understand everything. She loves her pink Bible that her MamaSug & Papa gave her.

Grammy

My grandmother lives in Lincoln, which has been such a treat for us. Not only have I had time to get to know her, but Morgan has someone who really loves her right here. We have started a weekly lunch with Grammy. I am learning all about my dad's side of the family & Morgan is getting some special time with her great grandmother. We went over to her apt. Wed. and while I cooked Grammy & Morgan colored pictures.

Thanks Granny

Last summer Stephen's mom, Granny, Vickie; came to visit us. She came for Morgan's birthday & called it a "celebration week" meaning that Morgan got pretty much anything she wanted that entire week. Well, it just so happens that Morgan decided that she really wanted a pair of Flip Flops! Well, great, but it was the end of the season. So here we are, grown women stopping in EVERY store from here to Omaha looking for a size 6 flip flop. NONE!!! So... we make one last ditch effort at Walgreens (right up the street) and Granny walks out with a size 11 boy frog shoe! YEAH!!! So this year, Granny vowed never to walk past a size 6.5 without buying it for Morgan. So thank you Granny for the 3 pairs of flip flops.

Brag

Most of you haven't seen Stephen in a while, but I have to brag... He has lost about 25-30 lbs. and is looking pretty good to me. I just thought I would throw that in there. And yes, he does have on Wranglers! First time in years.

Cakes

So, besides blogging (or lack of lately) I have gotten into making cakes for people. I have always been interested & even helped a friend make a few wedding cakes in the past, and recently took some Wilton Classes. But I decided that I would make all of Morgan's birthday cakes, (I also decided that I would make her Halloween costumes too, but I am 0 for 3 on that one, so we will stick to cakes) Here are a couple of cakes I have done this month.

Mama Sharon, Papa Ron & Grandma.... Thank you so much for the Valentine Card.

Morning conversation

There's no picture to go along with this one, but there are just some things that Morgan says that are just worth repeating. The other day we are sitting at breakfast. I am just starting my first cup of coffee and if you have ever had the pleasure of talking to me in the morning, I am not awake! So Morgan decided to jump right into a deep conversation. "So Mommy, just how did God make everything?" My very mature response, " I don't know." Which at another time I could probably come up with some answer a little more appropriate, but hey, it is only 7 am. So she gives me a look like, wow, you really disappointed me on that one. Thinks for a second, and says, "It's ok Mommy, I know. He did it all at church." Well, OK! Thanks for getting me out of that one Morgan!

So does anyone know the laws around child labor? Can we get away with calling it "chores" Morgan has now taken to doing the dishes. I can remember being that happy when I got to do them too, boy does that change with time!!!!

Warm Weather

So it's the first really warm day (65 degrees) Morgan & I set out to the toy store, Bubbles $5, New Sand Toys $5, Sidewalk Chalk $2.... Playing with our hands in the dirt... priceless.

Cara comes to town

We met some friends at Red Lobster when Morgan was a few weeks old. Well, actually, I stalked them, and Megan is just crazy enough to actually continue the relationship. So Morgan & their daughter Cara have been friends since birth. (they would get to see each other a lot more if someone hadn't moved away to Minn.!) We had a great time with them when they came to visit a few weeks ago. Although Cara didn't care much for Morgan's singing, she did like the dress up clothes.

New Years

So let's back up. I have not blogged in a while... We spend New Year's in Texas & watched Tech play in the Cotton Bowl. Stephen & I had a great time with friends at the game. And Morgan got to spend quality time with her grandparents. Here she just as happy as can be while Granny tries on the new hat she made her!

children's museum

After the hustle & bustle of Christmas we attemped to get back to a normal routine... and I didn't want to look at my messy house full of Christmas stuff I have to put away. We went to the Children's Museum. Morgan has perfected getting on a horse properly & is wanting to try out the real thing. I think her legs need to get a bit longer though. She also pretends that the tractor at the museum is her Papa's tractor down in Texas. She likes to ride with pretend Dusty. (we need friends:)

christmas morning

We had a wonderful Christmas, and I hope that everyone else did also. Santa was good to all of us this year. And on that note, my husband is making me write a retraction to everyone that I have ever told he is a very bad gift giver. In the past, he has proven himself to be one, but this year, he has broken the mold, in my eyes, of a caring & thoughtful person who truely knows me & what makes me happy. (There, are you happy Stephen!) There are no pictures of me because I got this camera for Christmas & was busy taking pictures.
